The tuna choice waltz

A young fisherman name o' Ahab
would bring his catch home from the sea
and before he'd take it to market
his young wife would run down with glee.

He'd lay all the fish in the horse cart
He'd tell her to choose the best one
And by the light on the moon, Ah
she'd choose the tuna
Then they'd dance the Tuna Choice waltz.

With Ahab's peg leg in a knot hole
in the floor of their cottage close by
they'd spin around in a circle
while the fish in the cart would draw flies.

Around and around and around and around
And around and around with no halts
Around and around and around and around
They'd dance the tuna choice waltz.

He'd lay all the fishies in circles
As the fisherwife turned somersaults
And by the light of the moon, ah,
She'd choose the tuna
Then they'd dance the tuna choice waltz.

She'd pass by the eels and the cod fish
when the new moon might well mask their faults
And with a lamp from his schooner
She'd pick a tuna
Then they'd dance the tuna choice waltz.

  * Refrain

When Ahab returned from the market
With pasta and beer made with malts
She'd whip up a casserole dinner
Tuna Choice, then they'd stand up and waltz.

  * Refrain

Young Ahab was also a fiddler.
He fiddled with Gusto and Schmaltz,
The trio booked church pot luck suppers
where they'd play the tuna choice waltz.

Righteous fishwives baked their pot lucks
with no trace of spices or salts
And Ahab's wife raised hers in Tupper
Ware all praised the tuna choice waltz.
